Gas prices again dropped below the $2.50 mark in this week’s fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Feb. 18, the average price in Iowa for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.45, down nine cents from last week and 57 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down two cents to $2.92 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa dipped five cents to a $3.40 per gallon average, compared to $3.44 a year ago. Local prices are 27 cents lower than the national average of $3.67. Turning to prices at the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $1.57, Unleaded 87 was $1.80, ULSD#2 was $2.33, ULSD#1 was $2.58, and E70 stood at $1.75 per gallon. As for the heating fuels market, propane and home heating oil prices held steady at $1.63 per gallon and $2.94 per gallon, respectively. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dipped 19 cents to $2.96 per MMBtu.
