Stewart Memorial Hospital and Clinics has recognized Randy Small, RN, as the latest recipient of its Path to Excellence Employee Recognition Award. The award celebrates team members who demonstrate exceptional commitment, compassion, and service to the hospital and its patients. Small currently serves as Stewart Memorial’s emergency department director, but he started his career there in 2013 as a CNA. His connection to the hospital began even earlier, as his mother once worked there as a nurse, and he and his wife received care at the facility, including during the births of two of their children. After several years in long-term care, Small pursued his nursing degree and joined the ER team in late 2018, where he’s been ever since. Small says, “I just stay motivated by just knowing that everything I do, day in and day out, is helping people live a better life, and just seeing people come in that you know that you’ve taken care of them, knowing your name and being able to kind of recognize you.” Hospital officials praised his leadership and compassion, calling his service a reflection of Stewart Memorial’s core values and mission.
