Whiterock Conservancy will host a family-friendly fishing derby next weekend at the Historic Garst Farm Ponds, located just east of Coon Rapids. The program is slated for Sunday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at 1390 Highway 141 in Coon Rapids. Anglers of all ages are invited to enjoy a morning of fishing for bluegill, bass, catfish, and walleye. Participants can pick up one container of bait per family at the Garst Farmhouse before heading to their favorite fishing spot around the pond. Prizes will be awarded in five categories after the event. No pre-registration is required, but all anglers age 16 and older must have a valid Iowa fishing license.
