The Carroll City Council convenes for its next regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, with Rec Center rate changes and springtime projects taking up most of the agenda. The April 28 meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says the council will open the meeting by recognizing a longtime city employee, Perry Johnson, as he prepares to retire from the city’s building department.
Kooiker expects the remainder of the meeting to move swiftly. The council will consider the second reading of an ordinance amendment to adjust the Carroll Recreation Center membership fees. At their last meeting, the council voted to raise membership for Carroll residents by approximately 12 percent and for non-residents by roughly 16 percent. Barring any serious pushback from the public, the council will likely waive the required third reading and adopt the ordinance amendment. Kooiker says the council will also consider a replacement system for telephone systems at multiple city departments.
Those bids come after the city experienced phone system outages earlier this year. Later in the meeting, the council will review a certificate of substantial completion from Badding Construction for more than $1.2 million in improvements at Merchants Park, which concluded last month. Kooiker says dredging is also planned this spring in the pond at the Carroll Municipal Golf Course.
The estimated cost for that dredging is around $25,000. The April 28 meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall and is open to the public. It will also be live-streamed via the City of Carroll’s YouTube page. The agenda and video links are included with this story on our website.
