Gov. Kim Reynolds has extended a proclamation easing weight limits on the transportation of agricultural products, allowing farmers and haulers to transport heavier loads without permits. The order signed over the weekend pushes the end date back to Monday, April 7. The proclamation applies to vehicles carrying corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, and manure. It permits loads up to 90,000 pounds gross weight on Iowa highways, excluding the interstate system. Haulers must still adhere to maximum axle weight limits and posted restrictions on roads and bridges. By extending the proclamation, Iowa’s agricultural industry can continue efficiently transporting ag-related products.
