Larry Allan Pomeroy, the son of Harold and Verna Pomeroy, was born on March 1,1955 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Larry was baptized on September 25, 1955, at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Dedham, Iowa, by Reverend Darrell V. Mitchell.   Larry and his sister, Lee Ann, were very active in the church as children. This is where the family found a love of singing. He attended school in Coon Rapids through second grade and then attended school in Carroll where he was active in mixed chorus and football. He was selected by Dewitt-Loustaunau Post 20, American Legion to attend Boy’s State at Camp Dodge in June of 1972.  He graduated from Carroll High School in 1973.

In high school he worked for Bill Haubrich as a hired hand. Larry bought a palomino horse named Tyler and was part of a neighborhood group of kids who rode their horses on Sunday afternoons. After he graduated high school, he worked for Garst and Thomas, Wendl Inc, and the Dedham Coop. In later years he drove truck for Arcadia Limestone.

On December 3, 1977, he was united in marriage to Mary Anne Bylund at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa, by Pastor Larry Lenning. They were blessed with two children: Jaime and Cody. They lived on the family farm one mile south of Dedham, Iowa for 18 years before moving to Viola Center near Audubon, Iowa for 22 years. Seven years ago, moved back to their family farm where Cody built their dream home. Through the years Larry farmed, raising hogs, soybeans, corn, hay, and a cow/calf herd. His whole family enjoyed raising and riding horses.  Riding motorcycles and horses were ways that helped Larry enjoy the wide-open spaces of the countryside that he loved so much.

In addition to being a devoted family man, Larry enjoyed tractor pulls and his antique tractor, an International Farmall 400 Diesel that he drove in parades.  In later years Larry enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs play football, farming with his son Cody and recently with his grandkids.  Spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest joy.

Larry Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Verna (Watrous) Pomeroy; his sister, Lee Ann Madison; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Rose Bylund; his sister-in-law, Kathryn Moravec; his brother-in-law, James Guthrie; his brother-in-law, Larry Bylund; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Moravec.
