The suspect in a stabbing in Lake View over the weekend has been charged with attempted murder. According to Lake View Police Chief Chris Jochims, the Lake View Police Department and Sac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 900 block of 7th Street in Lake View at approximately 11:52 a.m. on Sunday in reference to a stabbing. The initial investigation found that the suspect, 69-year-old James Murphy Debourgh, entered the victim’s residence and waited for him to return home. Authorities say Debourgh approached the victim and stated, “I am here to kill you.” The victim attempted to leave the scene in his car, but Debourgh managed to slash him through the vehicle’s window, resulting in lacerations to the left side of the victim’s face. According to law enforcement, Debourgh made comments indicating the victim owed Debourgh money and that he was there to kill him. Debourgh was booked into the Sac County jail on charges of attempted murder, a class B felony, and is being held without bond. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
