Carroll Man Arrested On Willful Injury Charge For February Assault

A Carroll man was taken into custody over the weekend in connection to a violent assault earlier this year that severely injured the victim. According to a Carroll Police Department affidavit, 22-year-old Jaquon Terrion Renard Thomas was arrested Friday afternoon and booked into the Carroll County jail for willful injury resulting in serious injury, a class C felony. The charge stems from a Feb. 4 incident in the 700 block of E. 18th Street between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Authorities say Thomas used a glass liquor bottle to strike the victim in the face, resulting in fractured teeth and multiple lacerations requiring medical treatment. Thomas was released after posting a $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 8. A class C felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
