Stan Henrich of Carroll

Stan Henrich, 80 of Carroll, died Monday, May 29, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter.  Lectors for the Funeral Mass will be Mary Glowacki, and David Schneider.  Gift Bearers will be Reese Henrich, Malia Henrich, and Calvin Henrich.  Casket Bearers will be Nicholas Schneider, Nathan Schneider, Colin Schneider, Alan Schapman, Tony Schmitz, Mike Mosman, and Dave Mosman.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Carroll American Legion.  Private family burial will be Saturday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be on Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll from 5-7 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.   Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for Stan’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.

Stanley Joseph Henrich was born on March 19, 1943, in Carroll, Iowa, the youngest son of Floyd (Jeff) and Isabella (Bruening) Henrich. He grew up in Maple River, Iowa, and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1962.  Stan worked for the County of Carroll for a record 45 years!  He was united in marriage to Sheryl Mosman, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on June 18, 1966, with his uncle, Fr. Paul Bruening officiating.  During his tenure at the County of Carroll, Stan was drafted in the United States Army where he served in Thailand during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.  The couple made their home in Carroll, IA, where they raised their three children:  Deb, Mark, and Jeff.

Stan enjoyed playing card games and Sudoku, attending Kuemper and Iowa State Cyclone games, watching car races, fishing, and hunting but Stan was most joyous when he spent time with his family and grandchildren, supporting their activities and attending all of their milestones. He was a lifelong member of Holy Spirit parish and involved with the Knights of Columbus and American Legion.  He frequently volunteered at Kuemper Catholic sporting events with his wife, Sherry.

Stan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sherry Henrich, his children: Debra (Dave) Schneider of Omaha, NE; Mark (Tracy) Henrich of Pine Island, MN; and Jeffrey (Cassandra) Henrich of Waukee, IA; six grandchildren: Nicholas (Natalie) Schneider of Denver, CO; Nathan Schneider of West Des Moines, IA; Colin Schneider of Omaha, NE; Reese Henrich of Pine Island, MN; and Malia and Calvin Henrich of Waukee, IA; two sisters: Mary Lou Janning of Carroll, IA; and Bonnie (Arlo) Bueltel of Carroll, IA; two sisters-in-law: Denise (Ron) Schmitz of Carroll, IA; and Mary (Paul) Glowacki of Nickerson, NE; two brothers-in-law: Michael (Barb) Mosman of Ames, IA; and Dave (Larie) Mosman 0f Carroll, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd (Jeff) and Isabella Henrich; father and mother in-law: Oliver (Bud) & Donna Mosman; brothers-in-law: Jerry Janning and John Mosman, and granddaughter: Hailee Henrich.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the staff at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for taking such great care of our husband, father, and papa.
