Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office K9 Spike Receives Protective Vest Donation From Vested Interest In K9s, Inc.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has received a donation of specialty armor fitted to its K9 officer, Spike, thanks to a generous donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The gift ensures that K9 Spike can perform his duties with an added layer of ballistic and stab-resistant protection. The non-profit organization was formed in 2009 and aims to provide protective vests and assistance to law enforcement canines across the United States. The organization has equipped over 5,077 K9 officers in all 50 states, totaling $6.9 million. These protective vests are designed to potentially save the lives of these four-legged officers. The program is open to eligible dogs employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies in the United States. With an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s nationwide, the program plays a crucial role in safeguarding these dedicated canine officers. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions of any amount, while a single donation of $985 can sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1,800 and comes with a five-year warranty.
