Mike was born on August 17, 1960 to Lyle and Lorraine Vonnahme.  He attended St. John’s elementary in Arcadia, IA and Kuemper Catholic high school in Carroll, IA. He enjoyed being a part of the marching band and went on to play taps for the Arcadia Legion for 40+ years. He was a member and leader of the Arcadia 4H club and chief superintendent at the county fair.

On November 12, 1983, Mike married the love of his life, Janene Picht at St. John’s in Arcadia, Iowa. Together they grew their family one boy at a time: Dave, Jim, Jake, and Luke.

You could always count on Mike to be doing one of his favorite activities: watching his sons play sports, camping during summer weekends or driving in his mail jeep. Mike was well known in the Arcadia and Westside areas as “Mail Man Mike.” He had a passion for things in life that cannot be matched, which included his rural postal route, an ice cold Busch Light, and his beloved Iowa State Cyclones.

He was the best grandpa to his three grandchildren: Priya, Jack and Cora. Grandpa Mike would do anything to keep up with them, including bouncing in a bouncy house.

Mike is survived by his wife of 39 years Janene; his sons David (Greta), James (Kristen), Jacob (Megan), and Luke (Brooke), and 3 grandchildren; siblings Steve (Rose), Lisa Kouri (Tom), John (Cathy), and Joe (Angie); sister-in laws Lorene Knobbe (Tony) and Connie Picht; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Lorraine Vonnahme; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Carmen Picht; sister Julie; brother-in-laws Richard Picht and James Picht; sister-in-law Nancy Picht; niece Natalie Picht; nephew Nathan Vonnahme; nephew Scott Picht and several aunts and uncles.
