Iowa Fuel Report: May 17, 2023

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, fuel prices were virtually unchanged over the past week. As of Wednesday, May 17, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline climbed two cents to a statewide average of $3.35, 77 cents higher than a year ago. The national average was unchanged from last week at $3.53 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell one cent to $3.76 per gallon. A year ago, statewide average diesel prices were nearly $1.50 higher at $5.27 per gallon. The current national average stands at $4.02. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16. Natural gas prices saw more substantial movement, climbing 16 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.35 per MMBtu.
