Gov. Reynolds Orders Flags To Half-Staff For National Peace Officers Memorial Day

Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered flags in Iowa to half-staff today (Monday) from sunrise to sunset in recognition of National Peace Officers Memorial Day. Reynolds says, “The fallen men and women of law enforcement deserve to be honored for paying the ultimate sacrifice protecting our families and communities. These heroes deserve more than we can offer. Their sacrifice to our communities, state, and country can never be repaid.” Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be at half-staff on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect. Flags at the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial in Des Moines will remain at half-staff for National Police Week, which runs from Monday, May 15 to Sunday, May 21.
