Iowa Fuel Report: March 29, 2023

Iowa gasoline prices climbed eight cents on average over the past week while diesel prices were mostly unchanged. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, the cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.27 across the state, about 62 cents below last year’s prices and 19 cents below the national average of $3.46 per gallon. Retail diesel prices averaged $3.87 per gallon, the same as last week and 95 cents below March 2022’s costs. The national average for diesel currently stands at $4.24 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices crept higher by one cent to $1.92 per gallon, home heating oil prices dipped two cents to $3.34 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site fell 11 cents to $2.15 per MMBtu.
