Glidden Joins In Statewide Tornado Drill Wednesday Morning

In recognition of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the City of Glidden is participating in the statewide tornado drill this (Wednesday) morning. Glidden and many other Iowa communities will sound their emergency weather alert sirens. Emergency preparedness officials encourage Iowans to use this opportunity to rehearse with their families, coworkers, and communities about what actions they should take in the event of a tornado. The safest location during severe weather is the lowest level of the nearest structure, away from windows and on the side of the building facing the storm. The next best option is an interior space, such as a closet or bathroom. Severe Weather Awareness Week runs through March 31 in preparation for the upcoming storm season.
