Glidden City Officials Set Public Hearing on FY24 Budget

Glidden city officials have set the public hearing for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 budget to be later in April. Cities have until April 30 to submit their budgets to the county auditor’s office. According to Administrator Brooke Peterson, Glidden’s property tax levy is higher in FY24 compared to FY23.

The property tax levy rate is per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation. Peterson says there are many reasons behind the levy increasing by approximately 43 cents.

Glidden is budgeted to bring in approximately $3.2 million in revenue for FY24, while the expenditures are at $2.9 million. Peterson says the city tends to make more each Fiscal Year than they spend.

Individuals are encouraged to attend the public hearing to have their thoughts heard about the budget. The hearing is scheduled for the council’s Monday, April 17 meeting.
