CCSD Board Of Education Presented Their 2023-24 Certified Budget At Monday’s Meeting

At Monday’s meeting, Carroll Community School District (CCSD) officials presented the board with a draft of the 2023-2024 certified budget. Every Fiscal Year, school boards are required to submit budgets to their county auditors. According to Director of Business Affairs Nicole McCarville, the school board has multiple levies in their overall property tax levy.

The district is proposing an overall property tax levy of $9.88719 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuations. Board Member Duane Horsley says having an almost $10 levy is good because most districts in the state are over that mark. McCarville compared expenditures from Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 and FY23 and says FY24’s expenditures are up 4.9 percent.

The proposed total expenditures for the district are over $30.5 million, which is a $1.8 million increase from last Fiscal Year. Budgets are due to county auditors on April 30. The school board set their public hearing for the budget during their April 17 meeting at 5:45 p.m. Full audio from Monday’s school board meeting is included with this story on our website
