Gov. Reynolds Orders Flags To Half-Staff Following California Dance Club Shooting

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered flags in Iowa to half-staff effective immediately in response to a mass shooting over the weekend in California. Authorities say at least 10 people were killed when a 72-year-old gunman opened fire at a Monterey Park, Calif. dance club and killed at least 10 patrons. The governor’s order was issued in conjunction with President Joe Biden’s proclamation to lower all U.S. flags to half-staff through sunset on Thursday, Jan. 26. Flags at the State Capitol Building, flag displays in the Capitol Complex, and public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state will be lowered. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flags at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
