End To 2022 Harvest Season In Sight According To USDA

The end of the 2022 harvest season is in sight, according to the latest USDA Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report. Producers had an average of 5.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Oct. 30, which included harvesting row crops, completing fall tillage, applying fall fertilizer, baling stalks, and hauling manure. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says, “The widespread and badly needed rain during the last week did very little to slow down corn and soybean harvest, which continues at a pace well ahead of the five-year average. Though the recent warmer weather has been good for both trick-or-treating and fieldwork, a wetter forecast looks possible for the end of this week and through early November.” Soybean harvest reached 94 percent complete, a week ahead of last year and 10 days ahead of average. The corn harvest continued five days ahead of 2021 and nine days ahead of normal at 77 percent complete. Find the full USDA Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report online at nass.usda.gov.
