Iowa Gas Prices Trend Lower As Diesel Climb Over The Past Week

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, gas and diesel prices continued to move farther apart over the past week. As of Wednesday, Oct. 26, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.55 across the state, an eight-cent drop from last week but 40 cents higher than a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down nine cents on the week to $3.76 per gallon. Retail diesel in Iowa climbed nine cents to $5.23 per gallon, and that price is $1.84 higher than this time last year. As of Wednesday, the national average for diesel came in at $5.32 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16. As for home heating fuels, propane was down one cent to $1.93 per gallon, home heating oil climbed nine cents to $4.80 per gallon, and natural gas prices were up 56 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $6.09 per MMBtu.
