Republican Candidate For Carroll County District 2 Supervisor, Mike Andersen, Wants To Bring New Perspectives And Business Background To County Government

Mike Andersen of Breda is running as the Republican candidate for the District 2 Carroll County Supervisor seat against Democrat incumbent Dean Schettler in the upcoming Nov. 8 election. Andersen is a lifelong Carroll County resident, and he and his wife, Dani, have three children. Andersen is self-employed, running a trucking firm with his family and a spray-foam insulation company. This is Andersen’s first political campaign, but he says he has been thinking of running for office off and on for the past several years.

Work has Andersen on the road a lot throughout rural Carroll County, and improving secondary roads would be one of his top priorities if elected. He says he will approach every decision with the same questions: is this a prudent use of taxpayers’ money, and how will it affect residents years down the road?

Another driving factor in Andersen’s decision to run for District 2 Supervisor is what he sees as a need for fresh perspectives on Carroll County’s issues and a business-minded approach when addressing them.

He is referencing the Carroll County Board of Health’s decision to terminate the longstanding agreement between the county and St. Anthony Regional Hospital to oversee the administration of Carroll County Public Health. Andersen and Schettler are scheduled to appear during the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s Oct. 12 Candidate Forum. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Carroll High School auditorium. The forum is open to the public and will also be broadcast over 1380 AM/95.1 FM KCIM and the Carroll Broadcasting YouTube and Facebook pages.
