Sen. Grassley Reminds Iowans Deadline For Service Academy Nominations Is Coming Up

Senator Chuck Grassley is reminding Iowa students interested in attending one of the nation’s five military service academies that the deadline for nomination applications is fast approaching. Grassley nominates 10 young Iowans each year for enrollment at the Military Academy at West Point, the Airforce Academy, the Naval Academy, or the Merchant Marine Academy. Applicants must submit their nomination application no later than Friday, Oct. 21. Copies of the 13-page application form can be found included with this story on our website. Materials can be hand-delivered to any of Grassley’s offices or mailed to the address included with this story on our website. Grassley says, “The academies offer some of the best options for students interested in receiving a higher education while serving our country at the same time. It’s a tremendous opportunity for young Iowans, [and] I’m honored to have the opportunity every year to nominate some of Iowa’s most talented students to our nation’s service academies.” Students are encouraged to apply directly to their service academies of choice and request that pre-candidate files be opened in their name. Grassley recommends students also request nominations for the academies from Senator Joni Ernst and their respective U.S. Representative.
