Wall Lake City Hall Now Accepting Donations For Planned Wall Lake Comets Mini-Museum

Officials in Wall Lake are ready to begin accepting donations for the creation of a new museum in the town’s former school building dedicated to the history of the Wall Lake Comets. Clerk Chris Rodman says the city council and other community leaders have been planning for nearly two years on what would happen to the former East Sac County (ESC) elementary in town after it closed permanently in 2020. Many ideas have been proposed, but one that was almost always a certainty was the Comet Room.

The plan is for an approximately $100,000 renovation to the locker room areas of the building that would have one locker room converted into individual men’s and women’s restrooms and the other transformed into the Comet Room. Rodman says Wall Lake Mayor Steve Druvenga kicked off the fundraising last week with a generous $1,200 donation. Financial donations for the project can be dropped off at Wall Lake City Hall, but Rodman says they are also searching for any materials related to the Comets.

People interested in donating their Comet memorabilia to the museum are asked to contact city hall to arrange a drop-off time. As it stands, Rodman says he cannot provide a solid estimate on when the Comet Room will be ready to open for the public, as that will depend on how quickly the city can secure funding.

Wall Lake had its own school for nearly 70 years before merging with Lake View-Auburn (LVA) in 1996. LVA then combined with the Sac Community School District in 2011 to form East Sac County (ESC) schools.
