CCSD Board Of Education Provided An Update On The Investigation Into Bullying Complaints

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education met last night (Monday) at the Carroll High School for their June meeting. Near the beginning of the meeting, Board President Cindy Johnson provided an update on the board’s investigation into complaints that had been filed against a district administrator. According to her, Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau has finalized his investigation into the complaints, and the issue has finally reached the board level.

The investigation Johnson referred to was launched earlier this year and drew attention after around 100 teachers, parents, and stakeholders voiced their concerns during the board’s April meeting. Later during Monday’s meeting, a student approached the board to request the high school offer debate as an extracurricular activity. Principal Tammy McKenzie says she is not aware of any major hurdles that would prevent the school from doing so.

The board unanimously approved the creation of a Carroll Debate Team, which will start at the beginning of the 2022/23 academic year. School officials will need to begin the search for a debate coach or sponsor as soon as possible. The school board has only one meeting left in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, which is scheduled for Monday, June 27 at noon. An agenda has not yet been released, but items will likely be limited to end-of-year billing.
