January 2022 Unemployment Figures In The Region Climbed By As Much As 1.2 Points From December

January’s unemployment rates in the region climbed by as much as 1.2 points from the previous month. According to data released this week from Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), Carroll County again saw the lowest unemployment in the area at 3.0 percent, a 0.4-point climb from December’s adjusted 2.6 percent. Unemployment in Greene County was up 0.3 points to 3.1 percent. Crawford County recorded the highest rate in the region, with 7.0 percent. Audubon and Guthrie Counties saw the most significant shift in their figures, with both increasing by 1.2 percentage points at 3.9 and 4.8 respectively. Sac and Calhoun Counties both recorded unemployment at 4.1 percent. These figures are not adjusted to account for seasonal unemployment. IWD recorded Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment for January at 3.7 percent, while the national rate stood at 4.0 percent. A link to the county-by-county figures can be found included below.
