Lowell Stribe of Manning

Funeral Service for 85 year old Lowell Stribe of Manning will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Manning.  Pastor Kathy Kluis, Officiating, Congregational Hymns with Janet Myer playing the organ.  Interment at Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa.  Visitation Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5 – 7 PM at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning.  The Ohde Funeral Home of Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

Casket Bearers are Alan Morris, Scott Stribe , Steven Strecker, Michael Bailey, Stephen Hill, Pete Westerkamp and Shawn Bobbitt

Honorary Casket Bearers are Jennifer Morris, Beth Stribe, Jennifer Strecker, Lori Bailey, Michelle Hill, Alayna Westerkamp and Andrea Bailey

     Lowell Allen, son of Herbert and Regilda (Stoffers) Stribe, was born on August 31, 1936, in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on a farm northeast of Manning where he attended rural schools. In 1952, Lowell moved with his family into Manning, graduating from Manning High School in 1954.

   On June 3, 1956, Lowell was united in marriage with Lois Anthony at the United Methodist Church in Manning. Lowell first worked for the Manning Creamery Company. In 1958 they started farming northeast of Manning while raising their three children. In 1969, Lowell became an agent for Home Mutual Insurance. In 1975, he began working in the office as an underwriter and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1998. During this time, Lowell also worked with Manning Insurance Agency doing Federal Crop Insurance. From 1970 and past his retirement, Lowell served in various capacities on the Home Mutual Board. In 1987, Lowell and Lois had a farm sale. They sold the acreage in 1988 and moved into Manning in 1989.

   Throughout the years, Lowell was active in the United Methodist Church and Hayes Township Schuetzen Verein. Throughout the years, he enjoyed going to dances, fishing, golfing, and playing cards at Cliff’s and with his grandkids. Lowell was a true family man. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially their ballgames and activities and going on family vacations.

     After Lois passed away in 2017, Lowell decided to move to Manning Senior Living the next year. He was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2021. On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Lowell passed away at MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 85 years, 4 months and 1 day of age.

     Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Lois Stribe; grandson Austin Bailey; son-in-law Allyn Strecker; two brothers Lon Stribe, in infancy, and Dean (Marge) Stribe; brothers-in-law Larry (Nancy) Anthony and Dick (Donna) Anthony; and a sister-in-law Eloise Anthony.

   Lowell is survived by three children: Allen (Carlys) Stribe of Manning; Sue Ann Strecker of Des Moines; and Lisa (Larry) Bailey of Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Alan) Morris of Manning; Scott (Beth) Stribe of Mt. Pleasant; Steven (Jennifer) Strecker of West Des Moines; Alayna (Pete) Westerkamp of Grimes; Andrea Bailey (Shawn Bobbitt) of Van Meter; Michael (Lori) Bailey of Montclair, VA; and Michelle (Stephen) Hill of East Tawas, Michigan; 11 great-grandchildren: Camden, Brennen and Harper Morris; Rowyn and Julia Hill; Emily, Jane, Wyatt and Morgan Bailey; Evelyn Bobbitt; and Hollie Westerkamp; brothers-in-law: Dan Anthony of Newton and Randy (Jacki) Anthony of Denison; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  www.ohdefuneralhome.com

 
 
 
 
 
Funeral services for 85 year old Lowell Stribe of Manning will be held on Saturday at 1:30pm at the United Methodist Church in Manning with burial at the Manning Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5-7pm on Friday at the Ohde Funeral Home in manning.  Visitation will resume at 12:30pm on Saturday at the church.  The Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of the arrangements.  Lowell is survived by his children:  Allen (Carlys) of Manning, Sue Ann Strecker of Des Moines, and Lisa (Larry) Bailey of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Lowell died Tuesday, January 11th at MercyOne in Des Moines.
