Formal charges have been filed against a former Carroll man accused of inappropriately touching a minor more than seven years ago. Last week, trial information was submitted in Carroll County District Court against 36-year-old Paul Mathew Synowiecki of Des Moines charging him with indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor. A Carroll County Sheriff’s Office investigation found Synowiecki had been staying overnight at a home in Ralston around August 28, 2014 when he touched the then nine-year-old female victim’s inner thigh area while she was sleeping. His arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 9. Synowiecki faces a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
