At their first meeting in November, the Carroll City Council approved a bid of $10,350.89 from NEVCO Sports for the purchase of three scoreboards at the Youth Sports Complex. These boards are being donated by Seaboard Foods, and at Monday’s meeting they made a formal presentation to the council to cover the costs of the replacement boards. Carroll Rec Center Superintendent, Jack Wardell, introduced the two local Seaboard Foods representatives.

Nick Christianson is the production manager for Seaboard Foods of Iowa and says they are happy to make this donation in support of the youth and families in Carroll and the surrounding communities. “Our employees and neighbors live here, so we are invested in the community and ensuring it’s a great place to live. Youth sports helps kids develop important life skills and brings communities together in friendly competition. We’re excited to see the scoreboards when we attend games.” Seaboard Foods employs more than 5,000 team members who work daily to produce farm-to-table pork products in Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Texas. Wardell says Seaboard contacted him about giving back to the community, and the idea for the scoreboards arose from that conversation.

The installation of the scoreboards next spring could require some work ahead of time with wiring and the structural supports.
