Area residents will be ringing in the holiday spirit at celebrations across the region this weekend. Manning will be hosting their annual Weihnachtsfest on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Santa will “land” at 5:15 p.m. to lead the lighted parade down the bricked Main Street beginning at 6 p.m. There will be brass bands, firepits for roasting marshmallows, cookie decorating, a book walk, horse drawn carriage rides, kids’ activities and more as everyone gathers for the traditional lighting of the holiday lights throughout the entire community. Santa has a busy weekend planned as he will also be arriving at the Carroll Chamber of Commerce Depot on Friday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. He and Mrs. Claus will be riding in style on a fire truck as they join in the lighting ceremony at the Depot Plaza. The Chamber will also be offering horse drawn carriage rides on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at no charge. From 4 p.m. on, the charge will be $10 per person or $50 for six passengers. Guests are also encouraged to shop local in support of Small Business Saturday and to support the area food pantries by bringing non-perishable food items to donate for the holidays.
