In March of this year, a subcommittee was formed and a fundraising campaign launched for an addition to the Audubon Recreation Center. The “Raise Up the Gym” initiative will add two full basketball and volleyball courts and repurpose existing space to house a fitness center. “We envision many youth basketball and volleyball tournaments in the coming years beings hosted at this facility. […] Weight and exercise equipment will be an added benefit for every membership,” the subcommittee wrote in a letter to the community. They have set a goal of raising $75,000 from local contributions during this giving holiday season and are hosting an informational meeting and open house next week. Everyone is invited to join them at the Audubon Rec Center Monday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed addition and to have questions answered by the Audubon Recreation Foundation Board and the Gymnasium Subcommittee members.
