Three Deer Accidents Reported In Greene County With Two Vehicles Totaled

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to three accidents involving deer over the weekend. No injuries were reported but two vehicles were totaled and the other sustained minimal damage. The first report came in at approximately 1:56 p.m. on Saturday on S Avenue near 295th Street, west of Rippey. Sixty-five-year-old Kimberly Smith of Jamaica struck a deer with the 2012 Chrysler Town and Country van she was driving. Damages were estimated at more than $14,000 and the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The second call was at 10:04 p.m. Saturday night on U.S. Highway 30 near K Avenue, west of Jefferson. There was an estimated $1,500 in damage to the 2016 Dodge Ram driven by 43-year-old Ted Semke of Jefferson. The third incident was a single-vehicle rollover accident that occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m. on Sunday. Deputies responded to A Avenue and 250th Street, south of Ralston. The initial investigation found that 35-year-old Matthew Scott of Boone had swerved to miss a deer and rolled the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox he was driving. That vehicle was also deemed a total loss.
