Former Crawford County Supervisor, Dave Muhlbauer of Manilla, announced this (Tuesday) morning he would be ending his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Chuck Grassley. Muhlbauer says, “For those of you who are not aware, my nephew died in an accident earlier this year. As I’m sure you can all imagine, this has had a devastating effect on our family. It’s something you can never prepare yourself for and will leave a hole that will never be filled.” Muhlbauer adds the need to be together with family as they grieve makes it impossible for him to continue his campaign. Four other Democratic candidates remain in the primary: former District 1 U.S. Representative, Abby Finkenauer; retired Navy Admiral, Michael Franken; Minden Councilman, Glenn Hurst; and former 7th District State Representative, Bob Krause.
