Storm Lake Man Charged After Following, Assaulting And Threatening Couple

A Storm Lake man faces felony charges after allegedly following and assaulting a couple on Wednesday night. The Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the scene on Hyland Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, the officers interviewed a male and female victim who told them while driving through town they noticed they were being followed by another vehicle and identified the subject as 21-year-old Anthony Moss Manatham. When they couple parked in a driveway on Hyland, Manatham allegedly used his vehicle to block them in, approached the passenger door and began punching the male. He also is alleged to have struck the female as she attempted to intervene before threatening to kill the male. Police were contacted as Manatham fled the scene in his vehicle. The victims sustained only minor injuries and did not require medical assistance. Manatham later surrendered to officers at the Storm Lake Police Department and was booked into the Buena Vista County jail, where he remains held on a $27,900 bond. He has been charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and assault, disorderly conduct and driving while suspended, all simple misdemeanors.
