Farnhamville Man Wanted For June Attempted Burglary Makes Initial Appearance In Carroll County District Court

A Farnhamville man wanted on an outstanding warrant for an attempted burglary in Carroll over the summer made his initial appearance in Carroll County District Court on Tuesday. Thirty-five-year-old Joseph Dewitt Midkiff is charged with second-degree attempted burglary, a class D felony. A Carroll Police Department affidavit alleges Midkiff entered the Carroll Walmart on the evening of June 22 and broke into the store’s jewelry case. He fled after an alarm sounded and employees began to approach him. Midkiff was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant Monday. He was released on his own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 18. A class D felony carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
