Fonda Woman Suffers Serious Injuries In Car-Semi Accident Friday

One person was airlifted with serious injuries in a car/semi accident Friday. The Iowa State Patrol reports they responded to the scene on Pocahontas County Road N28, two miles north of Fonda, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Twenty-eight-year-old Heidi Tuerck of Fonda was southbound on N28 in a 2008 Ford Focus when she drifted over the center line. She collided with a northbound 2012 semi-tractor trailer, driven by 64-year-old Lyn Bruns of Lytton. The Focus ended up in the east ditch and the semi, which was loaded with soybeans, entered the west ditch. Tuerck was transported by air ambulance for treatment of injuries and a 10-month-old infant in the Focus was transported by Pocahontas Emergency Medical Services for evaluation. Bruns was checked by first responders at the scene and released. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement. The accident remains under investigation.
