Carroll Man Thrown From Tractor In Tuesday Accident North Of Town

A Carroll man was thrown from a tractor after it was rear-ended by another vehicle Tuesday. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on 150th Street north of Carroll at approximately 4:11 p.m. Nineteen-year-old Nicholas John Sorenson of Breda was eastbound on 150th in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, behind an open cab Farmall tractor, driven by 81-year-old Robert George Lenz. For an unknown reason, Sorenson failed to stop and rear ended the tractor, throwing Lenz off and onto the roadway. Both the tractor and the pickup came to rest in the south ditch. Lenz was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of injuries. There was an estimated $2,500 in damage to the Silverado and $5,000 in damage to the Farmall. Sorenson was later cited for failure to stop in a safe secured distance.
