Greene County Historical Society Hosts Program Friday On Women’s Suffrage Movement

The Greene County Historical Society is hosting a special program tomorrow (Friday) afternoon celebrating a century of women’s suffrage. The presentation will be led by Mikki Schwarzkopf and begins at 12:45 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in the 100 block of Main Street in Rippey. Schwarzkopf will explore the decades-long effort by women throughout the country to secure their right to vote as well as the role local residents played in the suffrage movement. The 19th Amendment, which secured the right of all U.S. citizens to vote, was finally ratified on Aug. 18, 1920. The program is expected to last until approximately 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public to attend.
