Audubon Water Emergency Proclamation Extended To Nov. 1

The City of Audubon has extended water conservation measures for residents through the end of October. Today (Thursday), Mayor Barb Jacobsen signed the order that restricts unnecessary water usage by customers. This includes watering yards, washing vehicles and equipment, running ornamental fountains or other similar purposes. The penalty for noncompliance is $100 for a first offense, $200 for a second offense and $300 for third and subsequent offenses. These provisions are scheduled to expire Nov. 1 but may be extended if city officials deem it necessary. Audubon’s water emergency proclamation was originally issued in June due to ongoing drought conditions combined with reduced capacity in the city’s water system due to maintenance.
