Karen Grundmeier of Arcadia

Karen Grundmeier, age 80, of Arcadia, IA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Regency Park in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Ben Dose officiating.  Music for the service will be by Rebecca Dose.  Casket bearers will be grandsons: Shawn Drumheller, Michael Dentlinger, Tyler Grundmeier, Steven Irlbeck, Jake Wittrock, and Clay Taylor.  Honorary casket bearers will be granddaughters: Krystal Drumheller, Elizabeth Dentlinger, Melissa Grundmeier, Kayla Irlbeck, Katelyn Wittrock, and Kylie Taylor.  Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.  The casket will be moved to Zion Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Karen was born on October 13, 1940 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Carl and Marie Bruggeman.  She grew up in Lidderdale and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  She attended Immanuel Lutheran School until 8th grade and she graduated from Carroll High School in 1958.  She worked for Kratoska Insurance for one year following high school.  Karen was married to Stanley Grundmeier on June 7, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale by Pastor Landgraff.  The couple farmed south of Arcadia for 62 years where they raised their family.  After her children were raised, Karen worked at the Carroll Health Center for 15 years.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia and the Ladies Aide.  She volunteered at the Carroll Area Child Care Center with the Foster Grandparents Program and she was a member of RSVP.   Karen was also a member of the Ace Club in Arcadia.  She enjoyed baking, gardening, going to her grandchildren’s activities, and spending time with her family.
Karen is survived by her husband Stanley of Arcadia; her children and their families: daughter Kimberly Dentlinger (Loren) of Carroll, son Kevin Grundmeier (Karen) of Carroll, daughter Beth Wittrock (Dale) of Arcadia, and daughter Stephanie Taylor (Lon) of Nevada; eight grandchildren: Krystal Drumheller (Shawn), Michael Dentlinger (Elizabeth), Tyler Grundmeier (Melissa), Kayla Irlbeck (Steven), Jake Wittrock, Katelyn Wittrock, Kylie Taylor, and Clay Taylor; five great-grandchildren: Brooke, Loreina, Diana, Josslyn, and Greydin; her sister Carlyss Heuton (John) of Lidderdale; two sisters-in-law: Doris Bruggeman of Lake City and Betty Grundmeier of Carroll; a brother-in-law Don Fethkenher of Flagstaff, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Marie Bruggeman; her father and mother-in-law Alvin and Charlotte Grundmeier; a brother Bill Bruggeman; a sister Joan Fethkenher; a brother-in-law Robert Grundmeier; and a nephew Ryan Heuton.
