Selection As The New Carroll Parks And Rec Director Would Be A Return Home For Mark Fitzgerald

On Wednesday night, the public was invited to meet and provide feedback to city staff on three candidates who are up for consideration as the next Director of the Carroll Parks and Recreation department. Mark Fitzgerald of Thornton, Colo. says he spent the first 25 years of his life in this area, having been born in Jefferson and growing up in Panora. He and his wife, Maggie, have two children, Hannah who is eight and Connor who is five. Fitzgerald says they decided now was the time to return to this region and this opening has provided them with the perfect opportunity to do so.

Fitzgerald is currently the Athletics Coordinator for the Lafayette Recreation Department in Lafayette, Colo. He oversees both youth and adult sports as well as general recreation programs and he works closely with school districts, outside organizations and sports groups to make sure they are providing services and facilities needed to help run their programs. His experience and education, having graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in leisure services and general studies, are responsible for the strengths he will bring to the position.

In addition to being very detail oriented, Fitzgerald believes his strong communication skills are necessary in this leadership role.

If selected for this position, Fitzgerald says there are a few things he wants the staff and the people of Carroll to know about him.

Interviews with the other two candidates, Hunter Campbell and Chad Tiemeyer, can be found on Carroll Broadcasting’s website and social media pages. The city anticipates a decision and offer to be made by the end of this week.
