Christine Jo Valentine, age 63, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family.
A private funeral service will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Chris was born on September 26, 1957, in Harlan, IA, and she was the daughter of John and Lola (Anderson) Hodges. She grew up in the Harlan – Atlantic area. Following her schooling, Chris worked several jobs and lived in Chicago and California. She returned to Iowa to raise her family and be closer to family. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Iowa State University and became a Licensed Social Worker. Chris did her practicum at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll and was immediately hired as a social worker for the hospital. Chris worked for St. Anthony Hospital for 25 years until she was forced to retire due to unexpected health problems. She served on the Ethics Committee at St. Anthony for many years and also worked with the C.I.S.M. Critical Incident Stress Management Team helping healthcare workers deal with crises within their jobs. She was married to Art Valentine on May 11, 1991, in Dedham, IA. Chris enjoyed helping people most of all, traveling, blues music, music festivals, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Chris is survived by her husband Art Valentine of Carroll; daughter Sara Valentine of Carroll; her mother Lola Bennett of Carroll; four grandchildren: Carlie Barger (Michael), Bennett Sievers, Clark Sievers, and Linkin Kramer; two great-grandchildren: Everlee and M.J.; and several cousins and other extended family members across the country.
Chris was preceded in death by her father John Hodges; her step-father Earl Bennett; and her daughter Brandy Sievers in 2019.
