Lake City – Margie Gorden, 86, died Sunday, August 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Lake City Union Church with burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City is assisting the family.
Margie Jean Fertig was born on July 7, 1935 in Sac City, Iowa to James and Lillian (Barthman) Fertig. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1953. On July 31, 1954, Margie married Ellet Franklin “Frank” Gorden in Jackson, MN. She was a member of the Lake City Union Church and enjoyed gardening, baking and she especially loved spending time with her family.
Margie is survived by her son Steve (Karen) Gorden of Lake City; daughters Glenda (Dennis) Gentry of Lohrville and Sue Stone of Lake City; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers Don (Becky) Fertig of Polk City and Mike (Kit) Fertig of Arkansas; and sister Pam (Stephen) Roach of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank in 2009; grandson Jake Wine; son-in-law Jim Stone; brother Jim Fertig; and sisters Barb Bogardus and Shirley Goheen.
