William “Bill” Draisey Jr.

William “Bill” Edward Draisey Jr., age 79, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home in Carroll surrounded by his family.

      A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Joann Brincks. Gift bearers will be Roger Bach, Ryan Bach, Taylor Draisey, Taran Draisey, Grace Steffes, Sarah Steffes, Riley Bach, Brooklyn Draisey, Tyler Draisey and Tanner Draisey.  Eucharistic minister will be Joann Brincks.  Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur and the Holy Spirit Choir.  Burial will be in Violet Township Cemetery in Perry at a later date.

     Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church from 10:00 A.M. – 10:45 A.M. on Monday prior to the Mass.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Iowa Donor Network or the St. Anthony Cancer Center.

     Bill was born on March 8, 1942 in Ashton, IA, and he was the son of William E. and Bertha (Emerson) Draisey.  As a boy, his family lived in the Spirit Lake Area, Perry, and Ames.  He graduated from Ames High School in 1961 and then attended Webster City Community College and the University of Utah.  Following college he enlisted in the National Guard and served six years.  Bill was married to Maxine Glosemeyer on May 21, 1966 St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ames.  The couple made their home in Perry and were blessed with six children: Michelle, Catherine, Mark, Mike, Blaine, and Derek.  Bill worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power as a lineman while living in Perry and was promoted to supervisor moving to Spirit Lake retiring in 1997.  In retirement Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending the events of his grandchildren.  Bill and Maxine moved to Carroll in 2007.

     Bill is survived by his wife Maxine of Carroll; his children and their families: Michelle Steffes (Marty) of Carroll, Mark Draisey (Sheri) of Grimes, Mike Draisey (Jodi) of Adel, Blaine Draisey (Darlena Eskelsen) of Palm Coast, FL, and Derek Draisey (Michelle) of West Des Moines; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother Jerry Draisey of Mexico; a sister-in-law Theresa McTague of Columbia, MO; two brothers-in-law: Joseph Glosemeyer (Helen) of Oklahoma City, OK, and William Glosemeyer (Mary) of Minneapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

     Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Bertha Draisey; his father and mother-in-law Ferd and Loretta Glosemeyer; two sisters: Donna Emmerson and Bonnie Parker; two brothers Edwin and Dick Draisey; a grandson Bryce Draisey; a great-grandson Callan Redding; and a daughter Catherine in infancy.
