Wayne Brower of Early

Wayne Brower, age 96, of Early, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, IA.  Wayne Thomas Brower was born on June 28, 1925 in rural Sac City, IA, to parents Thomas and Katherina (Klindt) Brower.  He grew up on the family farm outside of Nemaha, IA where he attended grade school and graduated from Nemaha High School with the class of 1944.  After graduation, Wayne enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army serving in WWII.  He was honorably discharged on March 16, 1946.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha, IA with Reverend Betty Kiboko officiating.  Burial will take place at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City, IA under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 5:00 -8:00 p.m., Monday evening at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, IA
On February 1, 1945, Wayne was united in marriage to Margie Hines.  This union was blessed with four children: Karla, Arlin, Douglas, and Richard.  Together they raised their family on a farm near Early, IA.  Wayne was a hog and grain farmer.  In their free time, he and Margie loved to make memories by taking the family on camping trips.  Margie passed away in 1991.
On December 23, 1995, Wayne was united in marriage to Vera (Kleist) Platt at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha, IA.  From this union, Wayne gained three more children: Linda, Janene, and Lisa.
Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nemaha and a member of the Early American Legion.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, playing the harmonica, bowling, and going dancing.  He and Vera loved to travel together.   Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Karla (Joe) Puetz of Early, IA, Arlin Brower of Saratoga, WY, Douglas (Diane) Brower of Carroll, IA, Janene (Jim) Combes of Nemaha, IA, Lisa (Marty) Kane of Lexington, KY; grandchildren: Kim, Marc, Neil, Amy, Laura, Jaime, Wade, Austin, Adam, Stephaine, Jason, Megan, Heather, Jesse, and Jamie; 19 great-grandchildren; extended family members and numerous friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife Margie Brower; son Richard Brower; infant daughter Lanyce; second wife Vera Brower and her daughter Linda Zander; parents Tom and Katie Brower; daughter-in-law Sharen (Laursen) Brower, sister Alberta Highland and brother-in-law Norman Highland.
