While the prices of motor fuels remained stable over the past week, natural gas prices were up by nearly a quarter per MMbtu. AAA Iowa reports that as of Wednesday, natural gas prices rose $.23 and are now currently at $3.94 per MMbtu. The average price of unleaded gasoline in Iowa remained unchanged at $3, which is $.92 higher than this time a year ago and $.16 lower than the national average. Retail diesel rose a penny to $3.12, $.90 higher than last year and 15 cents less than the national average of $3.27. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.32 per gallon.
