Long-Time Carroll Parks And Rec Director Will See His Role Change As City Recruits New Director

The current Parks and Recreation Director, Jack Wardell, has been with the department for more than 16 years, but will be seeing a change to his position this coming September. Carroll City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says they have officially opened the application process for a new Parks and Recreation Director.

When asked if Wardell will be moving into the former Recreation Superintendent position, Pogge-Weaver says they are still working on the dynamics of his new role. In the Carroll City Council’s last meeting of June, a bill was presented from Midwest Municipal Consulting Executive Search Services for a total of $2,805 in charges that were incurred sometime between June 11 and June 24.

Pogge-Weaver says the city has hired the firm and its principal, Elizabeth Hansen, in the past.

Pogge-Weaver says she was brought in to meet with a variety of community leaders and conducted other tasks associated with this search.

She will also assist with background investigations on candidates and work with the other stakeholders who will be involved in interviewing and selecting the ideal candidate. Applications are due to Hansen by Aug. 6 and then there will be a process to narrow the list. Pogge-Weaver says they will hold interviews and potentially make an offer in early September.
