Calhoun County Residents Affected By July 14 EF-3 Tornado Can Submit Applications For Disaster Assistance Wednesday At Lake City City Hall

On Friday, Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for counties affected by the severe weather that passed through the state last week. Calhoun County is one of the 10 counties included in that order after an EF-3 tornado swept through Lake City and rural areas near Highway 175. On Wednesday, July 21, a representative from New Opportunities will be at city hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist eligible residents with disaster assistance applications. The Iowa Individual Assistance Program offers grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level that can be used for home or car repairs, clothing and food replacement and temporary housing expenses. Applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit their claim. More information about the program can be found included below.
