AHSTW                  3

IKM-Manning      2

IKM-Manning was on the road Tuesday as they took on AHSTW in week three of baseball action. The Wolves started the contest with a solo run in the top of the first to get up early 1-0. AHSTW responded well in the second on defense as they’d stop the hitting game for IKM-Manning and keep it at 1-0.

The Vikings in the bottom of the third and fourth brought in three batters to give them the lead at 3-1. Max Nielsen got the starting job on the mound, where in six innings, he allowed one earned run off of three runs total. IKM-Manning eventually responded in the top of the seventh inning with another run thanks to a double steal and a passed ball to make it 3-2. The Wolves had a runner in scoring position at third, but a strikeout looking from AHSTW ended the game with a final score of 3-2.

IKM-Manning’s Conner Perdew and Hayden McLaughlin had the two hits for the Wolves in this game. The Wolves fall to 2-6 on the season and 2-6 in Western Iowa Conference play as AHSTW improves to 3-4 overall and 3-4 in WIC play. IKM-Manning is in action next as they welcome Coon Rapids Bayard to Manning to play the continuation of a suspended game and a full varsity contest on Wednesday, June 9th. The suspended game in question originally happened on May 25th, and on Wednesday, they will play the rest of that game with Coon Rapids Bayard leading 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs and runners on first and second. The second full varsity game will be played following the completion of the suspended game.

Audubon had a tough night as they faced off against Tri-Center on the road Tuesday night. Tri-Center got out to a quick start in the bottom of the first as they racked up five runs to lead 5-0. The Wheelers responded well in the top of the second as they added three runs of their own to cut down the Tri-Center lead to 5-3. Kuemper at St Albert

St Albert    8

Kuemper   2

Kuemper had a long road trip Tuesday night as they faced off against St Albert. Both teams played this past weekend in the CYO tournament held in Carroll where Kuemper got the better of St Albert by a score of 12-9 in the championship match. Both teams in this game had struggled to find success in their batting and base running, as through three innings, the score stood at 0-0.

Kuemper eventually broke through with a run scored in the top of the fourth inning, taking the 1-0 lead. St. Albert, though, responded in the bottom of the fifth as they batted in four runners and took a 4-1 lead. Austin Tigges was on the mound for the Knights, and in five and one third innings pitched, he allowed five earned runs, 11 hits, two walks, and recorded two strikeouts. Kuemper came back in the top of the sixth inning with another run scored, but was unable to get any more in, cutting the St Albert lead in half to 4-2.

St Albert in the bottom of the sixth continued to ride their streak of scoring as they’d add another four runs to their total and take an 8-2 lead. The Falcons closed out the top of the seventh by not allowing a Kuemper runner to score, thus winning the rematch from the weekend prior 8-2.

Kuemper falls to 4-1 on the season overall, 2-1 in Hawkeye Ten conference play as St Albert improves to 10-5 on the season overall and 4-3 in Hawkeye Ten Conference play. Kuemper’s season continues as they are on the road once again to take on Underwood on Wednesday, June 9th.
