A Manning man has been charged with assault following an altercation between inmates at the Carroll County jail. According to court records, 20-year-old Michael John William Lyons, who has also reported residence in Carroll, is accused of striking another prisoner in the face with a closed fist on May 28. Authorities identified the victim as 35-year-old Joshua Allen Trenary of Rockwell City. Lyons made his initial court appearance and pled not guilty to the misdemeanor charge on June 2. His next hearing has been scheduled for June 24. As of Tuesday afternoon, Lyons remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $1,000 bond for an unrelated charge.
