State Officials Warn Iowa Pharmacies Of Increase In Scam Reports

The Iowa Board of Pharmacy issued a warning this (Wednesday) afternoon regarding an increase in phishing scams. State officials say potential victims report calls appearing to originate from legitimate Board of Pharmacy phone numbers. The scammer will request the name of the company’s diabetic test strip supplier. Then, scammers fraudulently claim to be from the distributer and request verification of account information. Licensees and registrants are encouraged to be suspicious of unsolicited calls from individuals claiming to be Board employees. In the event of a questionable call, recipients should hang up immediately and contact the Board office or compliance officer directly to verify authenticity.
